Ron Mizutani is returning to the news staff of KHON, beginning March 17.
"I am so grateful and humbled by the opportunity to return to KHON2," Mizutani said in a statement. "I have missed storytelling, meeting different people in our community and most of all I have missed the men and women in this newsroom."
Mizutani had been with Channel 2 for 22 years. He left his position as a 5 p.m. co-anchor in August 2007 to take a position as vice president of corporate communications at Hawaiian Telcom and resigned from that position in January, citing personal reasons.
"Ron has dedicated himself to the KHON2 News team and our loyal viewers of Hawai'i for many, many years, providing outstanding anchoring and reporting," station president and general manager Joe McNamara said in a press release. "Ron's return to KHON2 will allow the development of unique viewing opportunities for the benefit of the people of Hawai'i. We are extremely happy to have him back."
Mizutani's airtime on KHON has yet to be determined.
