Defensive end Travis LaBoy has signed a five-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals, the team said yesterday.

LaBoy's deal reportedly is worth $22 million, with $7.5 million guaranteed.

The 6-foot-3, 260-pound LaBoy played four seasons with Tennessee after being drafted in the second round by the Titans — the 42nd pick overall — out of the University of Hawai'i in 2004. He is expected to compete with Bertrand Berry for the starting job.

In a reserve role last season, he played 13 games with six sacks, 20 tackles, four forced fumbles, one interception and one fumble recovery.

Overall, LaBoy appeared in 54 games with Tennessee, 20 as a starter. He had 19.5 sacks, 175 tackles (100 solo), five forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and one interception. He had a career-high 6.5 sacks in 2005.

The team also signed tight end Jerame Tuman to a two-year contract. He appeared in six games, one as a starter, for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season before going on injured reserve Nov. 14.

Primarily a blocking tight end, he had spent his entire nine-year NFL career with Pittsburgh. He appeared in 121 games, 56 starts, with 43 catches for 500 yards and a touchdown. He also appeared in 10 postseason games with six starts. He caught seven passes for 57 yards and a touchdown in his playoff career.

Tuman was released by the Steelers on Feb. 8.

RAIDERS

Warren Sapp's 13-year NFL career officially ended when his retirement was posted on the Oakland Raiders' Web site.

Sapp said immediately after last season that he was through playing, but did not file the paper work. The posting on the team's site was the first official word that the star defensive tackle was done.

In January, the 35-year-old Sapp posted a two-word message on his Web site: "I'M DONE!" He had told teammates and coaches his plans after the season finale against San Diego.

Considered the quintessential "three technique" defensive tackle — lining up between the offensive guard and tackle — Sapp made seven Pro Bowls, won the 1999 Associated Press Defensive Player of the Year award, and led Tampa Bay's dominant defense that won the Super Bowl after the 2002 season.

Sapp spent nine seasons in Tampa before joining the Raiders in 2004 as a free agent.

ELSEWHERE

Bears: Chicago reacquired free agent wide receiver Marty Booker yesterday to help replenish a depleted receiving corp.

Booker, who was the Miami Dolphins' leading receiver last season, signed a two-year deal with Chicago. Financial terms were not disclosed. He is fifth in Bears history in catches with 315 in five seasons from 1999-2003. He was traded to Miami in the preseason of 2004

Seahawks: T.J. Duckett is heading to Seattle with a five-year contract, the free agent running back told The Associated Press last night.

Duckett, who played for the Detroit Lions last season, has 2,642 career yards rushing and 36 touchdowns. Last season, he carried the ball 65 times for 335 yards. A Seahawks spokesman said yesterday the team had not signed Duckett, but were talking with his representatives.
