Golf: India's Atwal beats Hedblom in Malaysian playoff

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Arjun Atwal of India won the Malaysian Open today, beating defending champion Peter Hedblom of Sweden on the second playoff hole.
They were tied at 18-under par 270 at the end of the final round.
Atwal, who also won the event in 2003, birdied the 18th to force the playoff. He finished with an 8-under 64. The pair finished a stroke ahead of Simon Dyson of England and Kane Webber of Australia.
