STOCKTON, Calif. The Stockton Unified School District has fired the district's athletics administrator over a probe into his possible involvement in a high school football recruiting scandal.

The district's board of trustees voted 7-0 to oust Joe Martin, 52, who was suspended with pay Nov. 1 in the aftermath of the scandal at Franklin High School.

Martin said he has done nothing wrong and may take legal action against the board for wrongful termination.

The school is being investigated for illegally recruiting players from American Samoa.
