Report: Hawaii residents fall short on diet, exercise

Lt. Gov. James "Duke" Aiona Jr. and Dr. Chiyome Fukino, director of the state Department of Health, today released the most recent and thorough compilation of data on physical activity, nutrition and related health conditions in Hawai'i.
The Hawaii Physical Activity and Nutrition Surveillance Report 2008 found that an estimated $140 million in inpatient hospital charges related to heart disease, stroke and diabetes could have been prevented in 2005 if more adults were regularly physically active.
