Honolulu's Parker McLachlin shot a 6-under-par 66 and was tied for the clubhouse lead today when play was suspended because of darkness in the first round of the AT&T Classic at the TPC Sugarloaf in Duluth, Ga.

McLachlin, a Punahou School and UCLA alum, was one of the earlier finishers in wet conditions that caused delays in play. Kenny Perry, Jonathan Kaye, Ryan Palmer and Jonathan Byrd also shot 66s. Four golfers are one stroke back and 10 are two strokes back with about 30 players unable to finish their rounds today.

McLachlin, who started on the back nine, waited nearly an hour to tee off on his final hole, the par-4 No. 9, because of a log jam caused by the weather. He parred the hole, considered on the of the toughest on the course.

"I actually kind of got cold out there," he said. "You get your heart rate going then you sit for 45 minutes or an hour and you get cold. And I just tried to stay loose and not think about the shot until it was actually time to tee my ball up and then start thinking about it. It's tough tee shot."

McLachlin had seven birdies — four on the front nine — with his only bogey on the par-4 No. 13. He sank a 25-foot birdie putt on the par-3 No. 16.

"I putted pretty well on the first nine and then just kind of -- I wasn't hitting it great.,"McLachlin said. "On the back nine I figured out something in my swing. I kept putting real good. That's always a good combination when you can sort of mesh the two together."

Kane'ohe's Dean Wilson, who started on the back nine, shot a 73 with a birdie at the par-4 No. 1 and bogeys at the par-5 No. 6 and par-4 No. 9.
