Rainbows bounce back to beat Utah Valley, 9-6

Brandon Haislet drove in four runs with a 3-for-5 performance, including a home run, to help Hawai'i hold off Utah Valley, 9-6, tonight to even the non-conference collegiate baseball series at 1 at Les Murakami Stadium.
The Rainbows play their home finale at 6:35 tomorrow night.
Jon Hee also went 3 for 5. Both he and Haislet entered the game with .369 batting averages.
Josh Schneider (5-2) went 5° innings, allowing two runs, five hits and a walk with three strikeouts for the Rainbows (27-28).
Aaron Brady (2-8) gave up six runs, five hits and four walks with one strikeout for the Wolverines (16-36-1).
The Rainbows jumped to a 1-0 lead in the first. Matt Roquemore led off with a walk, one out later took second on a wild pitch, went to third on Jon Hee's single to left and scored when Brandon Haislet grounded to short for a force at second. Haislet took second on the second baseman's throwing error on the attempted double play.
Hawai'i added to its lead in the fourth when Haislet led off by lining a home run to left to make it 2-0. It was his team-leading sixth homer of the season. Two outs later, Vinnie Catricala doubled to right-center, Sean Montplaisir walked and Kevin Fujii was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Roquemore walked to force in a run to make it 3-0.
The Wolvervines got on the board in the sixth. Tyler Garretson singled withone out and stole second before Matt Ratliff walked. Ryan Jones' single scored Garretson to pull UV to 3-1. Rhodes was pulled for Sam Spangler, who was greeted by Jake Brinkerhoff with an RBI single to center that made it 3-2, as Jones pulled into second. But Jones was picked off second by catcher Kevin Fujii and Scott Croshaw popped out to third to end the inning.
The Rainbows increased their margin in the sixth. With two outs, Kevin Fujii singled to right-center and Roqumore walked. Both scored on Greg Garcia's triple to right-center that increased UH's lead to 5-2 and ended Brady's night for Bryan Smith. Hee followed with a double to left to score Garcia, making it 6-2. Haislet also doubled, making it 7-2.
The Wolverines got three of the run back in the seventh. Openshaw led off with a walk and Kevin Arendse was hit by a pitch. Pinch hitter Cole Anderson reached first safely when he grounded to short for a force at second, but first baseman Kevin Macdonald dropped the relay from second, allowing Openshaw to score from second to make it 7-3. Anderson stole second whne Jake Rickenbach struck out. Spanlger was pulled after walking Garretson for Josh Slaats. Kai Hatch swung and missed a an 0-2 pitch that was wild and allowed him to reach first, as the other runners advanced to load the bases to set up Jones' two-run single that pulled UV to 7-5.
The Rainbows added two in the eighth on RBI singles by Hee and Haislet to make it 9-5.
Brinkerhoff hit a solo home run with two outs in the ninth off Cameron Wheeler to pull UV to 9-6.
