City parks in Kalihi, Palolo get makeover

Advertiser Staff

Two popular neighborhood parks have received makeovers that ensure they will be clean and safe for summer activities, city officials said in a news release.

"Many people look forward to using our parks in the summertime, especially our keiki, and they deserve parks and facilities that are safe and well-maintained," said city Parks Director Les Chang.

The Parks and Recreation Department completed work at Palolo District Park this week that included painting of the recreation building, replacement of security screens and broken restroom fixtures, and restriping of parking lot stalls.

The department completed similar work last month at De Corte Neighborhood Park in Kalihi Valley, and also replaced the comfort station's roofing.

Unsightly graffiti was painted over at both parks to make them attractive and inviting to families and other park users.
