Eight people were displaced when fire caused extensive damage to their Nanakuli home tonight.

The blaze at the single-story structure on Mokiawe Street, near Nanakuli High School, was reported about 9:15 p.m. Honolulu firefighters had the fire under control about 9:45, HFD spokesman Capt. Terry Seelig said.

Seelig said fire investigators were trying to determine what caused the fire. A hazardous materials team was sent after fire crews received a report of possible hazardous materials on the property; it was not immediately known if any were found.
