The Pipe Dreams Skate Demo is back for a second year, promising an eventful day. Sponsored by DC Shoes, Oakley sunglasses and skate/surf shop Pipe Dreams at Aloha Tower Marketplace, this event will have tons of free logo items and a street course packed with skate industry professionals. It's free and open to anyone and everyone interested in skateboarding.
"This is Hawai'i — the mecca of surfing; if we held another surf event, we'd get lost," says store owner Jason Chang. "We really wanted to do something for the skate community."
If the scene isn't enough to lure you down to Aloha Tower, then maybe Danny Way will. One of the world's most famous skaters, he's known for catching air off the Great Wall of China and Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel's electric guitar statue. Pros including Way, Colin McKay, Ryan Gallant, P.J. Ladd, Lyndsey Robertson and Ryan Smith will demo their skills on the ramp from 1 to 3 p.m. The event takes place from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Aloha Tower Marketplace and Pipe Dreams.

MUSIC FOR A CAUSE
It's a rare day when more than 20 DJs band together and donate performances, but that's what happens each year for DJs Against AIDS. And the talent is ecstatic about joining in.
"It's the 13th annual event; not to be superstitious, but we'll just call it the 12th annual rerun," says the promoter, DJ G-Spot. "In the past, waitresses would even donate their tips. People would help out and do what they could." All the proceeds from this party will go to the Life Foundation, a nonprofit organization that has been providing the community with free condoms, health information, care and support since 1993.
DJs Against AIDS, 9 p.m. Thursday, Lotus Soundbar, 2301 Kuhio Ave. Suite 118; $10; 924-1688, www.lotusoundbar.com, www.djsagainstaids.com.

TAPIA WILL JAZZ YOU
When one of the world's best 'ukulele players is also the oldest — 100, to be exact, and a vibrant performer — you really shouldn't pass on another opportunity to see him in the "Concert of the Century."
Bill Tapia is so good, you'll cry when he turns that jumpin' flea into a four-stringed fountain of youth. Tapia will delight you with his jazz chops and wit. And gentlemen, be warned: He also might flirt with your wife, but it's all in fun.
Tapia will be joined on stage by sultry Hawaiian singer Mihana, Grammy Award-winning Jeff Peterson on guitar and Ernie Provencher on bass, 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Monarch Room, Royal Hawaiian hotel. The event is the last in the Monarch Room until after The Royal Hawaiian's renovation; Tapia is already booked to celebrate the reopening, at 101. $48; 550-8457, www.honoluluboxoffice.com.

IN SUGAR-FREE BLISS
Go ahead: stare at Sweet Nothings' cases of luscious fresh cream puffs, pies, cookies and brownies. Can you believe these delicious items are sugar-free? Each bite is sweetened with sugar substitutes. Co-owner Darin Yokoyama says, "I really saw the need for something like this in Hawai'i, for diabetics and everyone." Make sure to try the cream puffs, original or chocolate — each puff consists of the perfect flaky crust with a creamy light filling. It's mouth-watering goodness without the guilt. Sweet Nothings, 1218 Waimanu St., Suite 102; 593-1234.
