KEY SENATE VOTES

1. Iraq War Funding

The Senate voted 70-26 Thursday for a $165 billion supplemental spending bill for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Republicans joined Democrats in defying a presidential veto threat to add billions for veterans' programs and unemployment benefits. The bill also would block new Bush administration cuts to federal Medicaid spending. The bill now goes back to the House.

2. Farm Bill Veto Override

The Senate voted 82-13 Thursday to override the president's veto of the farm bill, minus a section on international aid accidentally left out of the version of the bill that Bush vetoed.

KEY HOUSE VOTES

1. Renewable Energy and Tax Package

The House voted 263-160 Wednesday for a $54 billion tax package that would extend expiring tax breaks for individuals and businesses for a year. It also includes incentives for producing energy from renewable sources like wind and solar. The bill now heads to the Senate. The White House has threatened a veto.

2. Farm Bill Veto Override

The House voted 316-108 to override President Bush's veto of the $290 billion farm bill that includes new subsidies for farmers and increased spending for food stamps for the poor. Because of a clerical error, part of the bill dealing with international aid was dropped from the bill the president vetoed. The House later voted again for the entire bill, with the missing section.
