OTTAWA � American ice dancers Meryl Davis and Charlie White won gold at Skate Canada today, cementing their victory with a first-place finish in the free dance.

The Americans scored 88.24 points in the free program to finish with 178.89 overall. Canadians Vanessa Crone and Paul Poirier captured silver, placing second in the free dance to finish with 162.13.

Nathalie Pechalat and Fabian Bourzat of France earned the bronze with 159.06 points.

Americans Kimberly Navarro and Brent Bommentre finished fifth overall, and Jennifer Wester and Daniil Barantsev were seventh.
