Coast Guard band to remember WWII

Advertiser Staff

An American Journey, a United States Coast Guard Band, will give a free concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Waikiki Shell in remembrance of World War II.

The band's first Island show will commemorate the 67th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor and honors the peaceful relations now between the U.S. and Japan.

The program features a broad range of music by American composers, ranging from George Gershwin to John Williams.

The band, considered one of the premier military groups, is a representation of the Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security. It travels extensively around the world, to promote goodwill.

While the event is free and open to the public, tickets are required for admission.

Requests for a maximum of four tickets per family may be obtained at the Navy League of Honolulu's website, www.honolulunavyleague.or, or by calling 422-9404.

If still available, tickets will be distributed at the door.
