Ichiro Suzuki of the Seattle Mariners and Torii Hunter of the Los Angeles Angels won their eighth straight Gold Glove awards today as two of the best-fielding outfielders in the American League.
New Yankees pitcher Mike Mussina took his seventh honor, while Seattle third baseman Adrian Beltre and Cleveland outfielder Grady Sizemore received their second Gold Gloves.
Major League Baseball managers and coaches vote for the winners, Rawlings Sporting Goods Company Inc., which sponsors the awards, said in a statement. They can't cast ballots for players on their own teams and can only vote for players in their league.
The other winners were all first-time honorees: Minnesota catcher Joe Mauer; Tampa Bay first baseman Carlos Pena; Boston second baseman Dustin Pedroia; and Texas shortstop Michael Young.
