NFL: Disappointing Davis put on IR by Chargers
Associated Press
SAN DIEGO — Oft-injured wide receiver Craig Davis, a disappointment in his two seasons with the San Diego Chargers, will miss the rest of the season with a groin injury.
Davis was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday. Tackle Corey Clark was signed from the practice squad to take Davis' spot on the active roster.
Davis had only four catches for 59 yards and no touchdowns this season and missed the last five games while recovering from the injury.
Davis, a first-round draft pick in 2007, had 20 catches for 188 yards and one touchdown as a rookie.
Neither coach Norv Turner nor general manager A.J. Smith immediately returned calls seeking comment. The Chargers made the move after Turner held his daily news conference.
Cornerback Grant Mason was signed to take Clark's vacancy on the practice squad.
