Team Hawai'i captured eight of a possible 11 points in yesterday's second round of the USA Hawai'i-Japan Junior Cup at Waikoloa's Kings' Course.
Hawai'i's dominance extended its advantage to 14 1/2 to 7 1/2 going into today's final singles matches. All 44 players will participate (13 boys and nine girls on each team) and 22 points are up for grabs. Hawai'i needs to win eight matches to claim the Cup. Japan won last year's inaugural event, which brings together some of the best juniors from Japan and Hawai'i.
Hawai'i got a 5-and-4 victory from Inoka Kahawaii and Britney Yada yesterday, and 4-and-2 wins from Justin Keiley and Bou-An Fujieki, Casey Isagawa and Levi Miyashiro, Alex Chu and Marissa Chow, and Bradley Shigezawa and Cyd Okino. The format was foursome match play, or alternate shot.
