Patrol Squadron due to return today from Iraq
MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII, Oahu - The Golden Eagles of Patrol Squadron 9 are scheduled to return to Hawaii today after completing a six-month deployment to Iraq in support of the Global War on Terrorism.
The Sailors are scheduled to arrive at Hangar 105 on Marine Corps Base Hawaii in Kaneohe about 5 p.m. where they will be greeted by family and friends just in time for the holiday season.
The squadron's P-3C Orion aircraft conducted long-range surveillance and collected tactical images of the battle space. Those images were transmitted to commanders via real-time satellite communications to support Marine Corps and Army ground forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.
