Honolulu mayoral spokesman Bill Brennan pleaded no contest to drunken driving this morning in District Court, was fined $500 and lost his driver's license for 30 days.
District Judge Clarence Pacarro also limited Brennan's use of his driver's license for another 60 days so he could just travel between his workplace and his home.
Brennan was arrested August 22 at 2:45 a.m. at the corner of Hunakai Street and 'Aukai Avenue, a block from his home.
Today he appeared in court with his lawyer, Matthew Horn.
He apologized to the court and his family and commended Honolulu police officers for their professionalism in the arrest.
Brennan, 55, also thanked dozens of well-wishers who expressed support for him after news of his arrest was made public.
Pacarro also ordered the defendant to complete 14 hours of alcohol abuse classroom instruction.
The deputy prosecutor who presented the case was Kim Korte.
Brennan was suspended for five days without pay from his job with Mayor Mufi Hannemann's administration following his arrest.
The incident was not related to Brennan's official duties but the mayor said in a statement that he takes all issues of public safety seriously.
