Collector Car Event: The Barrett-Jackson Auction Co. will bring its collector car event to town. The centerpiece of the Las Vegas event will be the sale of Carroll Shelby's first race car, a 1949 MG TC that the performance legend piloted to victory in 1952. Joining the MG will be a 1957 Ford Thunderbird 'F' Convertible, an American classic and one of only 211 produced. Mandalay Bay Events Center will be the site for collectors worldwide to bid on everything from iconic vintage race cars to a fully functional scale model train. "Mob" Museum in works: After six years of planning and more than 60 years in the making, a Downtown Las Vegas museum devoted to the battle between the mob and law enforcement has a name: the Las Vegas Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, aka "The Mob Museum." Gala opening events are being planned for the museum's 2010 opening. Located in the former federal courthouse and post office building in Downtown Las Vegas, The Mob Museum will be part of the ongoing Downtown redevelopment. The building is one of the few remaining historically significant buildings in Las Vegas.
