The funeral for DeWayne McKinney, a millionaire who was killed in a moped accident in Kaimuki last week, will be held Wednesday at 5 p.m. on Lanikai Beach, his ex-wife said today.

McKinney, 47, is survived by his former wife Jeanine, his son Anthony, stepdaughter Jessica and stepson Kalif, along with his sister Brenda and brother Donnel.

Jeanine McKinney said today that Anthony McKinney will be taking over his father's business on Oahu, and Brenda McKinney will continue to run the ATM business on Kauai. The family plans to sell its Big Island business, which has 14 ATMs.

McKinney's 5,000-square foot oceanside mansion at 7032 Kalanianaole Highway is now part of the price reduction home sale that is taking place through Oct. 19, Jeanine McKinney said. The house had been for sale at $2.3 million.

McKinney, who spent nearly two decades in a California prison for a murder he didn't commit, parlayed a $1.7 million settlement with the Orange County, Calif., police department into a multimillion-dollar automated teller machine business in Hawaii.

He died early Tuesday morning from multiple internal injuries due to his moped crash. Alcohol intoxication was a contributing factor, the city medical examiner's office said. McKinney's blood-alcohol level was 0.22 percent, nearly three times the legal limit.
