Kauai residents can apply for sewer service credit

Kaua'i County residents who receive sewer service from the county need to apply for the 2009 Sewer Credit Program, county officials announced yesterday.
Qualified applicants will receive a $20 credit which will be applied to their sewer bill each month, amounting to a savings of $240 for the year.
Those who currently receive a county sewer credit must re-apply for the program to be eligible for the credit next year.
The deadline to apply for the 2009 Sewer Credit Program is Dec. 31.
To qualify for the credit, residential sewer users must meet the following criteria:
Applications were recently mailed to all residential sewer users and are also available at the Hanapepe, Kapa'a, Lihu'e and Waimea neighborhood centers, as well as at the Wastewater Management Division located at the Lihu'e Civic Center.
Applications may also be downloaded from the county's Web site at www.kauai.gov.
Completed applications must be hand-delivered to the Wastewater Management office by Dec. 31 or mailed to the Department of Finance, 4444 Rice St., Suite 280, Lihu'e, HI 96766, postmarked no later than Dec. 31.
At present, residents receiving sewer service from Kaua'i county are charged a flat rate of $45 per unit per month, a rate that has not changed since July 1, 2004.
