Trash & Treasure, nonprofit art center Temari's seasonal craft fundraiser, marks its 26th year on Sunday at the Manoa Grand Ballroom of the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i.

The event originated in the early years of Temari history, when faculty cleaned out their studios to sell one-of-a-kinds and discontinued items in a 10th Avenue hall. The "one person's trash is another's treasure" mantra has prevailed since, and the fair has emerged as a source of stellar new pieces by artists and vendors.

The sale, open to the public from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, includes ornaments, towels, T-shirts and original art. Vendors' fees support Temari's art programs. The event also now features nonprofit groups' products and unusual holiday gifts on the JCCH patio. Participants include Bamboo Ridge Press, Pacific Potters Guild, Moiliili Community Center, Project Linus and the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i.
