RAIDERS AT RAVENS

Line: Ravens by 7

Synopsis: Oakland upset the Jets last week, but that was at home and now has a tall task as it goes on the road vs. a team whose defense is No. 2 in the league and hasn't allowed a 100-yard rusher in the past 25 games. The Raiders have committed 49 penalties, tied for the sixth-most in the league. Look for Baltimore to run a lot. The Ravens average 134.3 rushing yards per game (No. 7 NFL) and Oakland gives up 136.2 per outing (No. 24).

PICK: Ravens 20, Raiders 12.

CHARGERS vs. SAINTS (in London)

Line: Chargers by 3

Synopsis: New Orleans has the NFL's top-ranked passing offense and San Diego has the worst pass defense, so look for much passing from Saints QB Drew Brees — especially with RB Reggie Bush out because of a knee ailment. However, rain is in the forecast as it was for last year's NFL game in London when the Giants slogged by the Dolphins on a messy field.

PICK: Saints 27, Chargers 23.

CHIEFS AT JETS

Line: Jets by 14

Synopsis: KC is a mess, as it's down to third-string QB Tyler Thigpen, who was intercepted 3 times in his only NFL start, and RB Larry Johnson has been banished from this one for off-field issues. NY tries to bounce back after losing in Oakland). Jets RB Thomas Jones, coming off a 159-yard rushing output, faces the NFL's worst run defense (537 yards allowed in the last 2 games).

PICK: Jets 37, Chiefs 13.

BILLS AT DOLPHINS

Line: Bills by 1

Synopsis: The key here is how well Miami runs the ball. The Dolphins averaged 192 yards (5.1 yards per carry) in their victories, but the numbers for their losses are 72 and 3.3. Buffalo is middle of the pack vs. the run (107.2 yards/game allowed) so if it figures out how to stop the direct snaps to Ronnie Brown it should improve to 6-1.

PICK: Bills 20, Dolphins 17.

BUCCANEERS AT COWBOYS

Line: Cowboys by 2

Synopsis: Dallas is in disarray, with QB Tony Romo (broken finger) out and the offense doing little last week with Brad Johnson filling in. He tries to boost a team that's lost 2 in a row and now faces a team that permits just 15.3 points per game, No. 3 in NFC. Tampa's WR corps is banged up, with Ike Hilliard (concussion) added to the list and it's not known if he'll play against Dallas' suspect defense.

PICK: Cowboys 20, Buccaneers 16.

EAGLES AT FALCONS

Line: Eagles by 9

Synopsis: Philly WR Kevin Curtis is set to make his season debut after recovering from hernia surgery, and he and QB Donovan McNabb operate vs. the league's 26th-ranked pass defense. The Eagles also expect RB Brian Westbrook back from broken ribs. Atlanta RB Michael Turner faces a defense that's given up back-to-back 100-yard rushing outings.

PICK: Eagles 23, Falcons 17.

RAMS AT PATRIOTS

Line: Patriots by 7 ›

Synopsis: New England is battered (the loss of S Rodney Harrison is the latest casualty) but is 4-2 and QB Matt Cassel is improving and faces a defense that ranks second-to-last in the NFC (392.7 yards/game permitted). The Rams average just 11.7 points per game on the road, and key RB Steven Jackson has a thigh injury and doesn't figure to be at 100 percent — if he plays at all.

PICK: Patriots 27, Rams 17.

CARDINALS AT PANTHERS

Line: Panthers by 4

Synopsis: Arizona is 3-18 in its last 21 games in the Eastern time zone. Cards QB Kurt Warner ranks third in the league in passer rating (102.8), but probably won't have WR Anquan Boldin again as he might be a week away from returning from a sinus fracture. Carolina is 4-0 at home and shackled New Orleans' top-rated offense there last week and allows just 14.9 points per game.

PICK: Panthers 23, Cardinals 17.

REDSKINS AT LIONS

Line: Redskins by 7 ›

Synopsis: How bad are the Lions? "I'm trying to get our players to realize it's an NFL team," Redskins coach Jim Zorn said. Washington should roll if it doesn't overlook its foe, which it did a couple weeks ago vs. the Rams. Dan Orlovsky starts again at QB for Detroit. Washington's Clinton Portis, the NFL's leading rusher, works vs. the NFC's worst run defense (167.5 yards/game allowed).

PICK: Redskins 20, Lions 17.

BROWNS AT JAGUARS

Line: Jaguars by 7

Synopsis: TE Kellen Winslow is out (discipline), adding to Cleveland's woes. QB Derek Anderson has thrown for more than 170 yards just once, RB Jamal Lewis hasn't had a 100-yard rushing game and the defense has given up more than 350 yards 3 times. Jacksonville is getting healthy, has won 3 of 4 and is rested after a bye.

PICK: Jaguars 26, Browns 13.

BENGALS AT TEXANS

Line: Texans by 9 ›

Synopsis: Cincy's Ryan Fitzpatrick returns to the site of his big NFL conquest, when he rallied the Rams from a 21-point halftime deficit to win in 2005. But he hasn't had much success since, and the woeful Bengals are 30th in passing, 31st in rushing and have allowed 26 sacks. Houston has won 2 in a row and WR Andre Johnson averages 104.8 yards/game, tops in the NFL.

PICK: Texans 27, Bengals 13.

GIANTS AT STEELERS

Line: Steelers by 3

Synopsis: Both teams are 5-1 and among the favorites in their conferences to reach the Super Bowl. The Giants lead the league in rushing, are second in offense and fourth in defense. The Steelers are first in defense, tops against the pass and second against the run. Pittsburgh RB Willie Parker is doubtful to play again because of a knee injury and WR Santonio Holmes is out for disciplinary reasons.

PICK: Giants 23, Steelers 17.

SEAHAWKS AT 49ers

Line: 49ers by 5 ›

Synopsis: SF plays under Mike Singletary, who replaces fired coach Mike Nolan. Singletary sticks with struggling QB J.T. O'Sullivan, who threw for 321 yards in a victory earlier this year vs. Seattle. The Seahawks have lost 3 in a row and will be minus QB Matt Hasselbeck (back, knee), with Seneca Wallace getting the call.

PICK: 49ers 24, Seahawks 17

COLTS AT TITANS

When: Monday.

Line: Titans by 4

Synopsis: Tennessee is the NFL's lone unbeaten team but faces a potent foe that can't afford to lose because it would fall 3 › games behind Tennessee. The Titans have allowed just 1 TD passing and permit 11 points per game, least in the league, meaning it should be tough for Indy QB Peyton Manning and company, especially with RB Joseph Addai expected to be out again (hamstring).

PICK: Titans 23, Colts 16.
