University of Hawai'i quarterback Greg Alexander was officially named the starting signal-caller for Saturday's game against Utah State in Logan, Utah.

UH said that quarterback Inoke Funaki also will play and will have a package of offensive plays specifically designed for his abilities.

Alexander entered the game in the second half of last Saturday's game and helped the Warriors pull out a 38-31 victory over Nevada.

He completed 17 of 22 passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns, including a game-winning 24-yard toss to Malcolm Lane with 20 seconds left. Alexander Monday was named Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
