OKTOBERFEST AT GORDON BIERSCH
PARTY HEARTY LIKE A GERMAN MIT FESTBIER UND SCHNITZEL
Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant is joining the handful of restaurants that celebrate Germans' beer-centered Oktoberfest. Their celebration kicks off Sept. 16 with the introduction of a new fall seasonal brew, appropriately named Festbier. Master brewer Jeff Liles calls it "a modern-day testament to the beers traditionally served in Germany during the 17 days of Oktoberfest."
You can order the made-on-site beer in a half-liter mug for $5.50 or upgrade to a stein for $11 and, for an additional $11, take home the stein. A special Festbier menu is planned by chef David Saccomanno, including chicken rouladen; sausages and kraut; and Jaegerschnitzel (breaded pork cutlets), served with spaetzle and braised red cabbage. Information: www.gordonbiersch.com. Reservations: 599-4877.
