Members of the silver medal men's and women's Olympic water polo teams will appear on the season premier of "The Oprah Winfrey Show," scheduled to air Monday. The teams were scheduled to tape the show Wednesday at Millennium Park in Chicago.

Punahou graduate Brandon Brooks was the backup goalie on the men's team, which won its first medal in 20 years. The women are the first team to medal in all three Olympic Games offering women's water polo, capturing silver at Beijing and in 2000, and gold in 2004.

Chicago is a finalist for the 2016 Games, along with Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro and Madrid. The International Olympic Committee will choose the 2016 host next year.

The show will also include appearances by gold medalists Michael Phelps, Nastia Liukin and Kobe Bryant. Winfrey's Harpo Productions said the show is a "welcome home celebration" for the athletes and a chance to feature Chicago in the city's bid for the 2016 Summer Olympics.

BROADCAST FROM CHINA

U.S. Paralympics, a division of the U.S. Olympic Committee, announced that Universal Sports will provide the first multiplatform broadcast coverage of the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games in the United States. Daily video highlights will also be webcast on the official site of the U.S. Paralympic Team, www.usparalympics.org.

Maui's Beth Arnoult is a member of the U.S. wheelchair tennis team at the Paralympics. It is her final competition before she retires from the sport.

The Paralympic Games are an elite sporting event for persons with physical disabilities. In Beijing, 4,000 athletes from some 150 countries will compete in 20 sports. The U.S. will be represented by 213 athletes.

Viewers will have the opportunity to watch the Paralympic Games, which start tomorrow and run through Sept. 17, with daily live and delayed highlight shows on www.UniversalSports.com and www.usparalympics.org. The official U.S. Paralympic Team site will also host daily video blogs from U.S. athletes and delegation members. Beginning in 2009, the U.S. Olympic Network will re-air portions of the 2008 Paralympic Games.
