Thousands of people turned out for the Job Quest Job Fair held today at the Neal Blaisdell Center Exhibition Hall.
With the state's unemployment rate hovering at 4 percent and many companies cutting their staffs, the fair, which ended at 3 p.m., was expected to draw a near-record number of job seekers. The Job Quest Job Fair is held three times a year and last September's event drew about 3,500 people.
Today, a steady stream of people with resumes in hand stood in line to purchase tickets to the event. Inside, people were busy filling out job applications and visiting many of the 180 employers in hopes of landing a job.
The job fair is sponsored by Oahu Worklinks, ALTRES Staffing and Success Advertising.
