TORONTO _ Roy Halladay worked six innings to earn his 19th win, Scott Rolen homered and the Toronto Blue Jays denied Boston a chance to clinch a playoff berth, beating the Red Sox 6-3 today.

A Boston victory and losses by the New York Yankees and Minnesota would have secured at least the wild card for the Red Sox.

Toronto pulled within 7� games of Boston in the wild-card race. The Blue Jays have seven games remaining, and Boston has eight.

Halladay (19-11) won for the first time in three starts, allowing three runs and six hits. He struck out three to give him 201 for the season.
