Weather: Sunny with occasional showers today

The weather in Hawaii today will be much the ways it was yesterday, with periods of sunshine mixed with passing showers and the chance of locally heavy rains, according to the National Weather Service forecast.
A high pressure area remains north of the islands, producing gentle to moderate trade winds that are expected to remain through the end of the week, forecasters said.
Moisture carried inland by the trades will result in showers mainly over the windward and mauka areas, although a few of the showers will drift over to leeward areas at times.
An upper level low-pressure area is creating an unstable air mass over the western half of the state and that may result in locally heavy showers today.
