Body found by Hilo wharf died of salt water asphyxiation

The body of a man who was found floating at Kuhio Wharf in Hilo, died from asphyxiation due to salt water drowning, authorities said.
The man has not been idenfitied, and police are classifying his death as an unattended death.
The body was found by crew members on Tuesday of the Pride of America cruise ship, which had been docked at Pier 1. The body may have been in the water for some time, police said.
When the body was recovered he was was wearing a faded denim pants and a reddish mesh football jersey with the name Douglas on the back. He is possibly Caucasian and about 5 foot 9 inches tall.
