An iconic HBO series that arrived on the big screen and a comedic look at the birth of pro football highlight the DVD releases this week.
(extended cut; two-disc special edition). Warner Home Video
The lowdown:
The long-awaited big-screen version of the popular HBO series sort of came and went.
The original cast is back, and the women are still trying to balance romance and career in this two-disc set, which features scenes not in the theatrical release.
Critics were almost evenly divided, as the film received a 51 percent positive rating at www.Rottentomatoes.com.
The digital transfer is very sharp.
Don't miss:
A digital copy of the movie to download, deleted scenes, conversations with star Sarah Jessica Parker and director Michael Patrick King, a look at the movie's fashions, a commentary track and a conversation with Fergie comprise the extras.

The lowdown:
"Leatherheads" is supposed to be a period comedy about the early years of pro football. But you see more football in an ESPN game highlight than you do in this George Clooney-directed comedy.
The movie's main drawbacks are a lack of focus and pacing. Despite a very crisp digital transfer, the movie fails to deliver.
Don't miss:
A featurette on the making of the movie and the challenges of filming a period piece is the main extra. Others include a look at creating the football sequences, deleted scenes, Clooney's reputation as a prank-ster and a breezy commentary track with Clooney and producer Grant Heslov.
