Kennedy Theatre opens its 2008-09 season with "The Little Snow Fox and Other Tales of the North Pacific." The trilogy of stories, based on the book "TiQri, The Little Snow Fox" by Tamara Montgomery and Jodi Parry Belknap, tells the tale about animals of the North Pacific told through the help of puppets, dance and special effects. The show is best for families and children ages 3-8.

The Broadway hit musical "Miss Saigon" - the story of a classic love triangle set in the 1970s Saigon during the Vietnam War - opens at Windward Community College's Paliku Theatre. The company includes three people with "Saigon" credits on Broadway or in the national touring company: Jade Stice as Ellen; Michael Scott Bright as Chris; and Bright's wife, choreographer and swing performer Jade Anguay Bright. The show uses adult language and may not be appropriate for younger children. Ron Bright directs.

FESTIVAL: OCT. 4
This year's Discover Moiliili Festival, themed "A Community at the Crossroads," takes a look at the town's past and future. There will be 20-minute trolley tours around the neighborhood, during which you can learn about the rich history and changes that have shaped the town. The event also features a craft fair, general store, farmers market, food booths, entertainment, keiki activities, photo exhibit and information booth.

Bishop Museum's Moonlight Mele summer concert ends with a delayed performance by The Makaha Sons, John Koko, Louis "Moon" Kauakahi and Jerome Koko. The concert, originally scheduled in August, was postponed because of John Koko's health issues. Bring a beach mat or low-backed chairs and stake your place on the museum's Great Lawn; there will also food available for purchase from local eateries. Tickets purchased for the August concert will be honored.

Local and Mainland vendors will fill the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall for the 44th Annual Food and New Product Show. Bring an empty stomach and fill it at the "Taste of the Pacific," featuring samplings from India Cafe, Soul de Cuba Cafe, Thelma's Filipino and more. There will also be plenty of giveaways, including a grand prize of free gas for a year from Lex Brodie.

Get your talk on at the 20th Annual Talk Story Festival, with three nights of some of the best storytelling in Hawai'i. The themes this year are: "Spookies," "Milestones" in honor of the festival's 20th anniversary, and "Imagine That!" Storytellers scheduled are Lopaka Kapanui, right, Makia Malo, Barbara Norfleet, Dann Seki and Mainland storytellers Cathy Spagnoli, Jennifer Cayley and Baba Jamal Koram.

Comic Paula Poundstone, below, will be bringing the funny for two performances at Pipeline Cafe's new weekly Wednesday comedy night. In 2006, she appeared in Bravo's "Look What the Cat Dragged In," a three-part funny girl series, along with Caroline Rhea and Joan Rivers. Poundstone last performed in the Islands in 2004.

John Cruz headlines the final concert of the Ohana Sunday Concert Series, presented by Island 98.5. The concert will be held at The Waterfront at Pu'uloa, formerly known as Iroquois Point Island Club. There will also be food, service booths and fun for the whole family.

"Hedwig and The Angry Inch," the rock musical comedy of love and betrayal, will be back at the Doris Duke Theatre. Once again Hedwig will be played by local musician Otto, and his band The 86 List performs as Hedwig's band, The Angry Inch. The story is the tale of a transgendered man - his rise from poverty to stardom and twists of fate along the way.

Cirque du Soleil's "Saltimbanco" tour makes a stop in Honolulu for a two-week stint at the Blaisdell Arena. "Saltimbanco," right, Cirque du Soleil's oldest production, is a family-friendly show featuring song, dance, acrobatics, aerial ballets, physical comedy, pole-climbing, juggling, bungee-jumping and more.
