Hawaii's Hou tied for fifth at Heather Farr Memorial

University of Hawai'i women's golfer Corie Hou is tied for fifth place — four strokes off the lead — after the first two rounds of the Heather Farr Memorial Invitational yesterday in Boulder, Colo.
The Rainbow Wahine are tied for 15th place in the 20-team field.
Hou, a junior from Clovelly, Australia, shot rounds of 71 and 69, and is tied with Texas Tech's Ulrika van Niekerk. Long Beach State's Kay Hoey and Notre Dame's So-Hyun Park lead the tournament at 8-under par 136.
Hou had three birdies and two bogeys during her 1-under 71 first round and six birdies and three bogeys in her 3-under 69 second round. Her 69 was the lowest round of her collegiate career, topping a 71 at the Peg Barnard Collegiate during her freshman season.
Notre Dame shot rounds of 288-281—569 to lead the team race. UH is at 307-304—611.
Rainbow Wahine freshman Kelcie Kawano (76-79) and junior Erin Matsuoka (80-75) are both tied for 65th at 11-over 155. Senior Carolina Perez (80-81) and freshman Megan Inouye (97-96) were UH's other participants.
The Heather Farr Memorial concludes on Tuesday with the third and final round at the Omni Interlocken Resort.

UH PUTS THREE IN TOP 7
Four University of Hawai'i sailors participated in the PCCSC Men's Singlehanded Championships, on Saturday and Sunday in San Diego, Calif.
Will Petersen was the top UH finisher, placing fifth with a total of 190 points and was part of a trio of Rainbow sailors who finished in the top seven.
Also participating for UH alongside Petersen were Peter Wenner (sixth place, 204 points), Andrew Meade (seventh place, 215 points) and Ryan Wild (11th place, 249 points).
A total of 25 sailors from 10 schools participated in the regatta hosted by UC San Diego and UC Irvine at the Mission Bay Yacht Club.
Twenty five races were completed over the course of two days with Stanford sailor TJ Tullo (152 points) and Cal Maritime's Paige Johnston (168) taking the top two spots. The pair automatically qualified for the Men's Singlehanded Nationals to be held in Ithaca, N.Y., in November.

CHAMINADE MEN FALL
Sophomore Jose Godinez recorded the first collegiate hat trick of his career and assisted on another goal yesterday as Cal State San Bernardino dumped visiting Chaminade, 7-1, in a non-conference men's soccer match at Coyote Premier Field.
The victory improved the Coyotes to 4-5-1 overall while the Silverswords are 1-9-1.
