The Colony restaurant at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort & Spa will present a five-course menu and wine pairing Friday in partnership with prestigious Silverado Vineyards. Chef Jeff Wind has planned a menu that begins with "sushi bar tapas" (beef and seafood appetizers) and ends with "baked custard and fruit marbles," all paired with Silverado wines, including a chardonnay, a merlot and a cabernet sauvignon with a little break midstream for lychee sorbetto. Cost is $79 per person and seating is limited. Reservations: 237-6140. Free parking.

GO NORTH, GO GREEN

HALE'IWA FARMERS MARKET OPENS SUNDAY

The new Hale'iwa Farmers' Market opens Sunday with a commitment to the green — everything locally grown, no plastics in sight, demonstrations on how to "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" and free shopping bags for the first 500 customers. The market's temporary location is at the traffic signal at old Kamehameha Highway and Bypass Road, on the Waimea side of Hale'iwa town. Behind the market are Pamela Boyar, a longtime farmers market manager who relocated here from the Mainland, and actress/theater manager Annie Suite. They'll have smoothies made on solar power, crepes made with organic flour and local eggs, tomato queen Jeannie Vana's pizza, locally made butter, a cafe area, Waialua coffee and chocolate. Hours are 9 a.m.-1 p.m. every Sunday. Boyar and Suite have great plans for monthly themed festivals and will move into a site in Hale'iwa town soon. Information: www.HaleiwaFarmersMarket.com.
