Grow your own Yankees lawn with official seed, sod

NEW YORK — Now you can grow your own major league lawn with Yankees grass.
Bags of official Yankees grass seed and pallets of sod are expected to go on sale Friday at 25 Home Depot stores in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
The sod is expected to cost $1.50 a square foot. A 3-pound bag of Yankees grass seed will go for $30.
Official licensee Stadium Associates says the Yankees sod is different from other types because it is meant to be cut frequently. Company spokesman Fred Pfaff says the stadium's grass gets mowed twice a day during the season.
Smaller souvenir bags of the seed also will be sold at Yankee Stadium.
The sod is grown by DeLea Sod Farms in East Northport on Long Island.
