Hawaii surf: Advisories canceled for east shores

Advertiser Staff

Surf along the east-facing shores of Oahu has dropped a bit and is expected to be 5 to 7 feet today, the National Weather Service said. A high surf advisory for the east-facing shores of all islands is no longer in effect.

Elsewhere on Oahu today, look for surf of 4 to 6 feet along north-facing shores, dropping to 2 to 4 feet by this afternoon; 2 to 4 feet along west-facing shores, diminishing to 1 to 2 feet by this afternoon; and 2 feet or less along south-facing shores.

Outlook through Wednesday, April 8: The rough and choppy surf will slowly diminish along east-facing shores this weekend, as the strong trade winds begin to ease.

A long-period west-northwest swell that is expected to arrive Monday is expected to produce surf heights near the high surf advisory threshold along north facing shores Tuesday. This swell will gradually decline Wednesday.
