The 2009 University of Hawaii football schedule will feature seven home games, including two against Western Athletic Conference contenders Fresno State and Boise State and two against top nonconference teams in Navy and Wisconsin.
This season marks the 100th anniversary of the inaugural year of UH football and fans can join the celebration early by placing a $50 non-refundable deposit for new season tickets until June.
Hawai'i played its first football season in 1909 and the 2009 season will be UH's 93rd year of competition. The university did not play football from 1912-14, 1942-45, and in 1961.
The cost for seven home games costs the same as last season's seven-game package. Deposits for new season tickets can be paid online and are for seats in the upper sideline and end zone sections. Current season-ticket holders will be mailed renewal information in the next two weeks and new season tickets will go on sale in July.
The $50 non-refundable deposit (per order, not per ticket) can be applied to new season-ticket purchases only. Following the completion of the renewal process in late June, fans will be contacted in the order that their deposit was received to secure their seat assignments and finalize payment.
UH will play six road games, including three in a row in September.
The schedule features six teams that played in bowl games last season, including: Navy (EagleBank), Wisconsin (Champs Sports), Boise State (Poinsettia), Fresno State (New Mexico), Nevada (Humanitarian), and Louisiana Tech (Independence). For the second-straight year, UH has six road games, including three in the month of September.
