A man in his 70s was killed this morning in a single-vehicle accident on Kaukonahua Road, city Emergency Services Department spokesman Bryan Cheplic said.

Kaukonahua Road was closed between Wilikina Drive and Thompson Corner as police investigated.

The crash was reported about 11 a.m. in the S-curves area of the road, one of Oahu's deadliest.

Several fire companies were called to the scene to help extricate the driver from a white pickup truck, police said.

Cheplic said the man was pronounced dead at 11:43 a.m.
