The state Department of Taxation is reminding Hawaii taxpayers that the deadline to file state individual income tax returns is April 20.

Starting this year the department will not offer curbside drop-off service after regular business hours on that day because demand for the service has been waning in recent years.

However, drop boxes will still be available in front of the tax office building at 830 Punchbowl St., and also around the corner on Halekauwila Street for last-minute filers.

Tax returns will be considered on time if they are placed in the drop boxes by midnight, April 20.
