Investigators await results of Fidrych autopsy
Associated Press
BOSTON — Authorities are awaiting autopsy results on Mark Fidrych and trying to figure out how the former All-Star pitcher died on his Massachusetts farm.
Fidrych was found dead Monday at 54 beneath a 10-wheel dump truck at his Northborough home.
Although he appears to have died from an accident, state law requires that all unattended deaths be investigated. The Worcester District Attorney's office said it does not expect autopsy results Tuesday.
Fidrych was the American League Rookie of the Year in 1976. He went 19-9 with a 2.34 ERA and pitched 24 complete games for the Detroit Tigers.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
