Royal Hawaiian donates $70,000

The Royal Hawaiian is donating $70,000 to the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific. The money was raised during the March 7 gala reopening of the historic hotel.
The donation will help support the hospital's charity care and neurology programs.
Gifts from the community allow the REHAB Foundation to enrich and enhance the rehabilitation experience for patients. Funding provides support for medical equipment purchases, scholarships, patient care programs and capital improvement projects to maximize each patient's recovery.
Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific is the only acute care medical rehabilitation organization serving Hawai'i and the Pacific.
The Building Industry Association of Hawaii said it will stage the 53rd annual Parade of Homes during the weekends of Oct. 9 to 11 and Oct. 16 to 18.
The statewide showcase of new homes will provide information on the latest trends, technology and design innovations in residential construction.
The 500 members of BIA-Hawaii include developers, contractors, suppliers, real estate agents, architects, financial institutions and other professionals who serve the building industry.
STATE TAX RETURNS DUE APRIL 20
The state tax department is reminding taxpayers that the deadline to file state individual tax returns is April 20.Starting this year, the department will not offer curbside drop-off service on that day because demand for the service has been waning in recent years.
However, drop boxes will still be available in front of the tax building at 830 Punchbowl St., and around the corner on Halekauwila Street for last-minute filers
Tax returns will be considered on time if they are placed in the drop boxes by midnight, April 20.
KFC HAWAII TO UNVEIL WEB SITE
KFC Hawaii says it plans to launch a Web site tomorrow as part of a new marketing effort that will tap the growing popularity of social online media in an attempt to reach more customers.The Web site, www.kfchawaii.com, will provide visitors with downloadable coupons. Users can sign up for regular newsletter updates and e-mail alerts for special deals, new product information and promotions. Each person who signs up will receive a coupon.
KFC Hawaii also established Twitter and Facebook accounts to interact with its tech-savvy customers.
"We wanted to reach out to the consumers who are scouring the Web for new deals," said Steve Johnson, general manager of KFC Hawaii. "In this economy everyone is looking for that extra little something that will save them some money."
