The Honolulu Theatre for Youth takes on the children's classic "Goodnight Moon" in the last production of the season. After Bunny says g'night, all the fairy tale elements spring to life in the Great Green Room, as HTY actors take the stage for a musical version of the book. The 1947 classic by Margaret Wise Brown is about a bunny whose bedtime ritual includes saying goodnight to everything in his bedroom: "Goodnight room. Goodnight moon. Goodnight cow jumping over the moon. Goodnight light, and the red balloon ... "

JAZZ GENIUS

Just in time to promote the release of his latest album, jazz great Benny Golson takes the stage at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Doris Duke Theatre ($30, 532-8700), for what we promise will be an unforgettable performance with the Honolulu Jazz Quartet. The album, "Up, Jumped, Spring" drops Tuesday.

BE A COUCH KALO

Pick up a supply of laulau and poi and settle onto the sofa to watch the Merrie Monarch Festival hula competition (continues at 6 p.m. today on KITV4). This year, the one to watch is Grammy nominee Keali'i Reichel making a ffirst appearance with his Maui halau, Kealaokamaile.

FLOGGING MOLLY IS BACK

They may as well be kama'aina already. America-Irish punk band Flogging Molly returns to Honolulu on the heels of a Japan tour in support of new album, "Float." They perform at 7 p.m. Saturday at Pipeline Café ($25, www.groovetickets.com).

WANTED: BAND CHAMP

Seven local bands compete in Hard Rock Cafe's battle of the bands at 9 tonight (955-7383). The winner will compete for a spot at London's Hard Rock Calling 2009 music festival.

TRUE ROMANCE

"Romeo and Juliet" gets the kids' treatment as high school kids from around the island give us their version of the classic teenage love story at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Hawai'i Theatre ($12, 791-1310).
