Flood watch for Maui, Big Island canceled

The National Weather Service this afternoon canceled a flash-flood watch for Maui and Hawaii counties.
The weather service said an upper trough associated with heavy showers was progressing east of the Big Island.
Light to moderate northeast winds are in the forecast through this weekend, with mainly light and variable winds across the lower elevations of the Big Island.
The threat of heavy showers will diminish across the entire state this weekend.

Today — Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 76. Northeast wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Tonight — Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. Northeast wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Tomorrow — Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 77. Northeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.
Tomorrow night — Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. Northeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.
Sunday: Scattered showers, mainly before 7am. Partly cloudy, with a high near 79. Northeast wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
Sunday night: Scattered showers, mainly after 7pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. Northeast wind between 8 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
