Lianna Bajarin pitched a no-hitter in the first game and a complete game in the second as Roosevelt swept Castle yesterday to clinch the O'ahu Interscholastic Association's Red Conference Eastern Division softball title.

The Rough Riders won, 12-0 (five innings) and 7-4, at Stevenson Middle School to finish 11-1 in the East and earn the division's No. 1 seed for the upcoming league playoffs. They will receive a first-round bye and begin tournament action in Thursday's quarterfinals.

In the Western Division, Mililani and Campbell finished tied for first place at 10-2, but Mililani won a coin-toss tie-breaker for the No. 1 seed.

Roosevelt and Castle entered yesterday's regular-season doubleheader finale tied for first at 9-1. But Bajarin struck out six and walked only one in a no-hit effort, and she also contributed on offense by going 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs.

Charisse Tanabe went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs, Paika Frank went 2 for 3 with a triple and RBI, and Lindsay Takekawa went 3 for 3 as the game was shortened to 4 1/2 innings due to the 10-run rule.

In the second game, Castle took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but the Rough Riders rallied with a four-run fourth, highlighted by Frank's RBI triple and Tanabe's two-run triple. Frank then had a two-run double in the seventh to add some insurance.

Bajarin struck out four — including the final out with the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the seventh.

With the sweep, Kailua (9-3) moved into the No. 2 seed position via a tie-breaker and also will receive a first-round bye. Castle (9-3) drops into the No. 3 seed and will begin tournament play in Wednesday's first round.
