GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Tim Tebow is defending teammates after off-field issues might have affected the public perception of the Florida Gators this summer. Florida has had at least 25 arrests in four-plus years under Coach Urban Meyer.
The Florida quarterback said his role as a team leader isn’t to “get on anybody” critically but to encourage. His teammates are good guys who were caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, Tebow said.
“I take responsibility; our team takes responsibility for that,” Tebow said. “But it hasn’t been guys on purpose trying to do bad stuff. That’s something I care about.”
LB Dustin Doe is the latest Gator to find trouble, serving a suspension stemming from a July arrest for driving with a suspended license.
