MLB: Phils’ Martinez to start Wednesday vs. Cubs

Associated Press

PHILADELPHIA — Pedro Martinez will make his return to the majors Wednesday when he starts for Philadelphia against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said Monday that the three-time Cy Young winner will come off the 15-day disabled list. He finished up last season with the New York Mets.
To make room for Martinez in the rotation, the NL East-leading Phillies are sending 46-year-old left-hander Jamie Moyer to the bullpen. Moyer leads the staff in wins with a 10-9 record, but his 5.47 ERA is third-worst in the majors.
The 37-year-old Martinez went 1-1 with a 5.11 ERA in three rehab starts in the minors.
The World Series champion Phillies recently traded for AL Cy Young winner Cliff Lee of Cleveland.
