Nine teams of architects, design and engineering professionals will be at Pearlridge Center for "Canstruction," a food drive, a statehood celebration and a sculpture competition rolled into one.
This event is themed "Celebrating 50 Years of Statehood: Hawaii Then and Now!" A People's Choice Award winner will be decided by the public, who get one vote for every can of food donated.
The teams will build today from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the mall's Uptown Center Court and votes will be taken through Aug. 29. On Aug. 30, the sculptures will be dismantled and donated to the Hawaii Foodbank. www.AIAHonolulu.org.
