New search turns up no trace of missing dog on Waialae Iki Ridge
Firefighters spent about 90 minutes this morning searching for a dog that fell off Wiliwilinui Trail atop Waialae Iki Ridge yesterday afternoon but could find no sign of the animal, fire Capt. Terry Seelig said.
A call for help was received about 6:40 p.m. yesterday after the owner reported the dog had gone off the trail and tumbled about 300 feet.
Searchers looked for the dog until dark yesterday and agreed to resume the search this morning.
Seelig said the Fire Department’s helicopter and pilot and its Rescue One team participated in today’s search along with the dog’s owner beginning about 6 a.m. Seelig said the search was officially suspended after the latest effort failed to turn up any trace of the dog.
“If any new information is received, then we would reopen the search,” Seelig said.
