State Office Tower reopens following Thursday gas leak
State workers will return to work this morning at the State Office Tower on Beretania Street after a gas leak closed the building Thursday, said Russ Saito, state comptroller.
The leak also is to blame for a small explosion in the communications room at the Leiopapa o Kamehameha Building, or State Office Tower, where 300 people work.
No one was injured in the explosion or the gas leak. The tower was partially opened on Friday, Saito said, and more workers came in over the weekend.
The tower remained closed from Thursday through Friday morning while crews checked for the source of the gas leak and restored power to the building.
