A man was critically injured when his motorcycle collided with a car yesterday afternoon on Farrington Highway in Waianae.

The incident occurred at about 3 p.m. near 85-761 Farrington Highway. The man, who appeared to be in his 20s, was taken to the hospital in critical condition, said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Emergency Services Department.
Cheplic said an occupant in the car was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Police closed the westbound lanes of Farrington Highway and redirected traffic onto Old Government Road while they investigated the crash. The left eastbound lane of the highway also is closed.
All lanes were reopened at 6:20 p.m.
The accident apparently happened as the motorcycle was headed west on Farrington, just past the McDonald’s restaurant parking lot. Police said the car, a late model white Nissan Versa, pulled in front of the motorcycle and the bike struck the passenger’s side of the Nissan. The impact pushed in the side of the car, ripped offf its rear bumper guard and smashed the motorcycle.
In the moments after the crash, the motorcyclist lay on the ground, not moving, a witness said.
At 5 p.m., the Yamaha motorcycle lay in the two westbound lanes. Glass and debris were scattered all over the road.
